Classroom Actor Auditions
Beginning on May 10, Young Playwrights’ Theater (YPT) will host a monthly open call audition workshop for classroom actors for our In-School Playwriting Program.

YPT hires union and non-union actors throughout the school year to go directly into elementary, middle and high school classrooms in DC, Maryland and Virginia to bring students’ words to life. YPT believes that every student has a story worth telling and uses its actors to help tell these stories.

YPT’s classroom actors follow YPT’s PLAY acting technique, which includes:

·      Physicality
·      Lifting the words from the page
·      Active, bold choices
·      Saying Yes

Our classroom actors are great at improvisation, possess strong cold reading skills, can play a wide range of characters and respect the ideas and work of young people. In addition, they are professional, reliable and have daytime availability.
